D NO BODY is a series of dance performances and installations that explore the meaning of identity, playing with the boundaries between body and icon. The series also investigates the ways in which our self-images are contained and reflected in and by others. Today we are often busy constructing a monumental image of ourselves. We want to stand out, be acknowledged and remembered as perfect ‘avatars’; searching for our individuality and a sense of belonging altogether.
In Part 5 Dario Tortorelli trains the physical body towards transcendence. Through his alter ego Romeo Heart he lets us imagine how we might feel the things we see, evoking sensory experience beyond the visual.
The piece is created with the collaboration of visual artists Nikki Hock and Annika Kappner, who also investigate the notion of image beyond the physical. To embrace the experience, the piece is accompanied by the soundscape of Thierry Castel, who has created an original composition for this performance.
Performed by Nicole van den Berg, Paolo Yao Kouadio and Patrick Schmatzer
