Right in the heart of the highland valley, Asiago had been for four years a theatre to the Great War. The splendid natural surroundings are ideal for summer and winter holidays and offer a rich calendar of cultural and sportive events able to satisfy even the most demanding tourists. The War Memorial built on Leiten hill was inaugurated on July 17, 1938 in the presence of Mussolini. The Memorial is a cemetery for over 50,000 Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers who fought and died in the Great War. Constructed entirely in white marble, it also hosts a museum.
