M., for the freedom and irreverence he has given us* *To E.M., for all that - at least I- cannot say with words yet* *Translation and writing: Domenico Ingenito* *Reading: Domenico Ingenito* *coproduction Interno5, operaestate Festival* Nuttata is the Neapolitan translation of the monologue by Bernard-Marie Koltès, in which the main character shares his feeling of estrangement, marginalization, his need for love and how he had to emigrate from his homeland. For the translation, Domenico Ingenito (also author and actor) first has translated literally the text, then he interviewed street kids at the train station of Naples, asking them to read extracts of Koltès’ text. Keeping in mind the sound of their voices, he then completed the translation and the rewriting of the French monologue.
