Act Your Age

Act Your Age has been a biannual project (2012/2013), dedicated to promoting an intergenerational dialogas well as a dialog about active ageing by means of the art of dance, by the Nederandse Dansagen Festival of Maastricht (Holland) and the Dance House Lemesos (Cyprus), and with the participation of centers in Turkey, Finland and Ireland.  In addition to the artistic endeavors in contemporary dance, with the participation of professionals throughout Europe, the project has also brought forth a series of activities in the area, that have engaged the students of the No Limita-C-tions network, as well as young choreographers and video makers.  Act Your Age itself has permitted the start of an innovative research project on the impact that the practice of contemporary dance can have on the neurological system, especially on those affected by Parkinson’s disease. The initiative was accomplished thanks to a collaboration with the neurological ward of the Bassano hospital, and featured the participation of patients and doctors, as well as of professional choreographers and dancers.  All of the above-mentioned activities were directed by experts from the USA and The Netherlands, where research has explored for years the positive neurological impact that artistic activity and creativity can stimulate.
