“In life, it is our salvation; not only our life, but the life of the living,” says Ginevra Bompiani, paraphrasing a line by Hölderlin. These thoughts and words become the title, guide, and warning for Francesca Foscarini’s latest artistic research. It is a research that, out of necessity and desire, unfolds entirely in the open and in the light—precisely there, where that which saves grows. There, where stones—the bones of the earth, the skeleton of the world, our own skeleton—become the archive of the forces that compose and decompose life.

It is upon this enigmatic presence (absence) that the mapping of the artist's journey is traced, in a difficult, never reassuring attempt to recover a lost biological memory: there where, perhaps, having abandoned the defense of rationality and let go of time, it is possible to draw closer once again to the inconceivable universe and to ourselves, as living beings, dreaming.
