The Body Symphonic is a performance-concert that observes the body as a site of resistance—an engaged body traveling through rituals of excavation, revealing new and boundless mythologies, and allowing for unlimited autonomy of self-representation and grounding. Created in response to the multiple political and geopolitical crises in Lebanon, this work is a meditation on the role of the body in the struggle against occupation, where looking back, inward, and forward become strategies for steadfastness and liberation. The artist, who received the prestigious Boghossian Foundation Prize for Dance and Performance, confirms with this new work their research into the intersection between the political and poetic body. A creation for which Prince also composes the music performed live alongside percussionist Joss Turnbull, it reflects on memory and the future through a body that embraces signs of transformation, oppression, and resistance. The artist views the body as an archaeological space and engages it in rituals of excavation, revealing new mythologies, self-representations, and roots.
