National Preview

In the nest (Nel nido) explores what happens inside the human mind when it undergoes dissociation and identity shatters. It is inspired by Shirley Jackson’s novel The Bird’s Nest, which examines the blurring of the self and the multitudes that inhabit it.
The protagonist is Elizabeth, within whom four young women coexist: they share the same body, but each has a different personality, memory, thoughts, and perceptions.
Each has a goal: to assert her own story, personality, and thus identity, in relation to the others.
But who is Elizabeth really? The impossibility of answering this question leads to the horrific solution of a real murder, to eliminate every aspect of the feminine, considered sick and disturbed, and thus give birth to a new being.
From the ashes of Lizzie, Beth, Betsy, and Bess, like a modern-day Frankenstein, Victoria is born, devoid of emotions and memory, “a depopulated landscape to be repopulated,” an “empty vessel” to be filled as one pleases.
