Trio senza pianoforte is inspired by the debut novel of the same name by Vitaliano Trevisan, one of the leading Italian writers of the past two decades, who tragically passed away in 2022. Presented by the Orchestra Contemporanea Veneta, with Diego Dalla Via as narrator, the production brings to life an energetic and vibrant text with an extraordinary musical rhythm, where the incisive writing is transformed into a tapestry of sounds, breaths, and evocative images, creating a vivid, essential, and pulsating experience.
Trio senza pianoforte comprises three stories with a jazz-inspired rhythm: Uccelli. Un assolo di sax contralto, structured as a true verbal “solo” a rhythmic flow in which the writing mimics the improvisations of a saxophone; Passato di verdura. An Improvisation, an ironic dissertation on the ontological and cultural impossibility of the author’s hometown to understand and embrace jazz; and finally, Vasca Imhoff, which shifts to the theme of architecture and, in its evocation of a paranoid yet lucidly projected social critique, echoes the great Thomas Bernhard, whom Trevisan so deeply admired.
