Born from a reflection on the phenomenon of migration, this performance-as-device invites spectators to coexist within a shrinking, delimited area. They'll need to develop strategies for collective cooperation, prompted to explore the concepts of limits and borders in a communal search for solutions.

This reflection emerges from current events and a powerful provocation: what would happen if the entire global population decided to migrate together, at the same moment, to the same place?

This new project explores the local and universal history of education in the last century, with a special focus on the two World Wars. It will be presented as an immersive experience, using artificial intelligence, sound design, and live performance. This expands on a theme that remains very important in our interconnected world today.

From Seren del Grappa, nestled in the pastoral setting of Rifugio Bocchette, the second day of the Monte Grappa Jazz Festival kicks off with the DaMaRo Trio.

This trio, representing a unified and balanced form of expression, marks an interesting musical journey for its three artists: Dario Volpi on guitar and composition, Marco Carlesso as a subtle and refined drummer, and Roberto Caon on double bass. They will present a repertoire of jazz standards, original compositions by legendary jazz figures, and some of their own written pieces.

Um/Welt
cantante e oud player Sarra Douik
saxophone e clarinet Manuel Caliumi
composer and double base Marco Centasso
electronic music and researcher Riccardo Sellan

Still in the Seren del Grappa area, the festival moves from Rifugio Bocchette to Malga Bocchette di Cima to meet the Um/Welt quartet. This new project, conceived by Marco Centasso and supported by the WeStart Production Center, is one of the four winning projects for Nuova Generazione Jazz 2025.

The German term "Umwelt" translates to the Italian "ambiente" (environment), but literally means "surrounding world." More deeply, "Umwelt" also refers to each individual's subjective universe—their horizon of interaction with the world. The musical project thus explores the creation of worlds interacting through sound.

By fostering a space for dialogue between composer and double bassist Marco Centasso, singer and oud player Sarra Douik, saxophonist and clarinetist Manuel Caliumi, and electronic musician and researcher Riccardo Sellan, the project investigates the possibility of creating new forms of relationship to communicate through sound, transcending the barriers of human communicability.

Hobby Horse
sax tenore, clarinets, drums, voice, electronic music Dan Kinzelman
double baseo, armonium, voice, electronic music Joe Rehmer
drums, voice, electronic music Stefano Tamborrino

Hobby Horse is a collective formed in 2010 that quickly gained recognition for its tendency to push beyond the boundaries of jazz. They freely draw from other genres to create a truly original musical language of their own.

Their music is an unpredictable mix of styles and genres, at times a forceful collision of musical languages. It ranges from slam poetry to hip hop, bossa nova, psychedelia, progressive rock, techno, and chamber music. Hypnotic and mysterious drones alternate with violent bursts of energy, all unified by a subtle attention to timbre and melody, a constant sense of discovery, and palpable musical tension.

NOTES

This year, in collaboration with the CAI of Feltre, three joëlettes will be available for individuals with motor disabilities. These will come with support staff. Mandatory booking is required no later than one week before the event. Entry for these guests and their companions will be free.

Parking is available at Malga Bocchette. It's a 15-minute walk (0.8 km) from the first event location, Rifugio Bocchette.

The total walking time is 1 hour and 15 minutes, covering a total distance of 3 kilometers.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes, and bringing a towel or blanket to lay on the grass for the concerts.

Venus Ship
Andrea Salvato, Marco Vecchio, Federico Privitera, Giuseppe Lastella, Michele Murgioni, Ugo Moroni, Daniele Marrone e Mattia Bassetti

The first day of the "Terre Graffiate" festival, dedicated to jazz in its many forms, kicks off at the foot of Monte Grappa in the Lepre area, amidst lush green meadows and pastures.

The opening act is Venus Ship, an eight-member collective born from Bologna's underground music scene. Their inspiration comes from the movements of the 1960s and 70s, and the stories of great figures who fought for civil rights. Venus Ship's music draws from this rich historical context, showcasing a diverse range of sounds. Their atmospheres transport listeners from New Orleans to the music of Charles Mingus, from the Spirituals of the "Liberation Music Orchestra" to funk inspired by "blaxploitation" cinema. These sounds and stories from other eras resonate with surprising relevance today.

Balkalà 4et
guitar, sax, fretless guitar Giulio Gavardi
saxophones, clarinets Francesco Socal
accordion Nereo Fiori
drums Luca Nardon

Giulio Gavardi's strings meet Francesco Socal's winds, Nereo Fiori's accordion, and Luca Nardon's percussion to explore the traditional melodies of the Balkan Peninsula. Blending tradition and improvisation, with moments that are both soothing and energetic, their diverse repertoire from those lands tells a troubled story of intersecting cultures and peoples, revealing mysterious and unique sounds.

at 6:00 p.m  at Trattoria al Lepre, Monte Grappa
Matteo Paggi - GIRAFFE
trombone Matteo Paggi
alto saxophone Lorenzo Simoni
piano Vittorio Solimene
double bass Andrea Grossi

The musical day concludes back in Valbrenta, in the Lepre area, with the final performance featuring Matteo Paggi in quintet with & The Giraffes.

Matteo Paggi is a versatile musician who has explored various musical styles, instruments, and approaches since the beginning of his career. Color, voice, timbre, dynamics—everything is subject to his continuous study and search for artistic expression. His music is a constant exploration, ranging from free improvisation to heavy rock and metal, from traditional jazz to trendy modern music. It's a blend of conscious logic and ardent passion, where powerful and solid melodies are accompanied by familiar harmonies and supported by dramatic rhythms.
