The Urutau (Nittibio in Italian) is a South American bird, it is nocturnal, still all day in improbable postures, it camouflages itself resembling trees and sees with its eyes closed. This performance is dedicated to him: a hybrid between a sacrificial rite and a frozen rave party. They are artists, people, living beings who train in telepathy: everything is still, but this generates a story by subtraction, an intimate and trembling narrative.

Urutau is a participatory ritual performance open to all. Francesca Pennini, choreographer of CollettivO CineticO, will hold a preparatory workshop on the afternoon of the event, open exclusively to those who participate. Enrollments are limited: the online form will soon be available on the OperaEstate website.

A BLACK LINE UPSTAIRS

  • Accessibilità: Si
  • Sottotitolo: Matilde Vigna
  • Summary: The floodings of Polesine in 1951 and the private history of a contemporary woman merge in this piece about what's lost and what stays.
  • Data evento: 2023-08-24
  • Dove: Teatro Remondini
  • Prezzo: € 5
  • Orario: 21.30
  • Tipologia: Teatro

Autumn 1951: it rains. The flood of the Po river breaks its banks and the Polesine becomes a huge lake of 70 square kilometers. You flee without being able to choose what to bring, you flee to be able come back, you come back to start over.
Autumn 2021: it's raining. A woman is grappling with yet another move, scans the rooms, and she decides to take everything away. All that she has.
The monologue intertwines the two stories, natural tragedy and personal tragedy: loss, bewilderment, fleeing one's homes on the one hand; separations, removals, mortgages on the other.

Two stories that come to merge together, a reflection on voluntary uprooting and involuntary, about the big and small events that change our lives that opens up to the question: Would it ever be possible for us to truly lose everything? A reflection on loss, on possession, on what remains.

Closing the B.Motion Music programme is a musical duo based in Seoul, which challenges the sonic possibilities of Korea's best-known traditional string instruments: the gayageum and the geomungo. Ethereal and otherworldly, Dal:um creates a compelling sound world that holds subtle dynamics and space between notes, in a dialogue between traditional and experimental practices. Although both Suyean and Hyeyoung had been playing traditional Korean music since their childhood, their meeting resulted in a shared desire to extend the techniques and boundaries of their instruments and to develop their own distinctive repertoire. "The literal meaning of Dal:um is 'to pursue something' and infuse our passion for music," says Hyeyoung.

Similar to a translation of traditional Asian painting and its intrinsic dialogue (and harmony) between emptiness and fullness, Dal:um's wonderfully balanced and expansive music is defined by inspired dialogues and creative paradoxes between silence and expression, contemporary and traditional, full and empty, similar and different.

Lara Barsacq is once again turning to the Ballets Russes at the start of the 20th century for inspiration, paying homage to one of its underrated creators, Bronislava Nijinska, who created the choreography for Les Noces to a score by Igor Stravinsky. This ballet stages the marriage of a peasant couple and the preparations of the young bride, in tears at the thought of this future union. Lara Barsacq takes this story and evokes femininity, rites of passage and the freedom of dancing bodies.

It is a leap into the void without a safety net, a completely insolent act, a pulsing rebellion. It is an unquenchable and indomitable desire, for freedom. Leïla Ka appears, barefoot and dressed in a simple shirt, loose and long, resembling a nightdress or a straitjacket. But there is the one who receives them and tries to dodge them and the one who rebels. The one who seems vulnerable and the one who is unstoppable and insolent, whose body, like a caged lion, openly tries to free itself from an absurd and grotesque discipline.
