A spectator, a performer, an iPod and two pairs of headphones: ÉCOUTE POUR VOIR is an artistic experience that connects people through the sharing of a song.
Connected through dance and movement, performers and audience give life to singular encounters, where each brief exchange turns into an intense dialogue, an interaction that is both unique and intimate.
ÉCOUTE POUR VOIR is a project by Médiation Culturelle of the Danse Carpe Diem company, which originated in Montréal in 2009, and in 2022 won the prestigious Prix à la Collaboration Internationale de Cinars award. After having traversed numerous cities and continents, it arrives for the first time in Italy curated by Chiara Frigo.

Dopo essersi diplomata alla Central School of Ballet, Chisato Ohno ha danzato con il Netherlands Dans Theater, e con la Batsheva Dance Company, e ha lavorato con coreografi come Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Mats Ek e Sharon Eyal. Attualmente è un’artista e insegnante residente a Londra, dove insegna alla London Contemporary Dance School e alla Rambert School, oltre a tenere corsi professionali.

This year’s creation for dancers of Dance Well, contemporary dance practice for people with Parkinson’s and open to the whole community, also European project since 2022, is entrusted this year to the dance artist Chisato Ohno, who will create a movement-based score, giving dancers a new opportunity to explore different languages of contemporary dance.

After graduating from Central School of Ballet, Chisato joined Netherlands Dans Theater 2 where she performed works by Jiri Kylian, Hans van Manen, Johan Inger, Paul Lightfoot, Gideon Obarzanek and many others. She continued to become a member of Batsheva Dance Company performing many works of Ohad Naharin and other choreographers including John Jasperse, William Forsythe, Mats Ek and Sharon Eyal. She then joined Karas Company of Saburo Teshigawara for two creations and tours of other repertory. Chisato returned to London and has been teaching Gaga since 2005. She teaches regular Professional classes in London and has taught company class for Akram Khan Company, Hofesh Shechter Company, Punch Drunk, Stopgap, Clod Ensemble, New Adventures, Lost Dog and others. She has been a member of faculty at the London Contemporary Dance School since 2013 and joined the Rambert School faculty in 2020.

Le repos è un’opera che affronta il tema del lutto. La creazione, ideata per quattro interpreti, è una forma di lamento collettivo che cerca di accompagnare la tristezza. Un invito a piangere insieme, a ricordare quelli che conosciamo e quelli che non abbiamo conosciuto. Attraversando la tristezza collettivamente, senza cercare di risolverla, vivendo insieme il dolore come gesto condiviso. È un viaggio per dire addio a chi non è più qui e per imparare a convivere con la loro assenza. Esteticamente, l’opera si ispira ai colori e alle sensazioni dell’ora blu e dell’alba, quei momenti sospesi tra notte e giorno. Attraverso il lavoro sulle luci di Florian Bach, lo spettacolo cerca di ricreare una sensazione di calma, apertura e connessione con l’ignoto.

Le repos is a work that addresses the theme of mourning. The creation, designed for four performers, is a form of collective lament that seeks to accompany sadness. An invitation to weep together, to remember those we know and those we never knew. Moving through sadness collectively, without seeking to resolve it, experiencing pain together as a shared gesture. It is a journey to say goodbye to those who are no longer here and to learn to live with their absence. Aesthetically, the work is inspired by the colors and sensations of the blue hour and dawn, those suspended moments between night and day. Through the lighting design by Florian Bach, the show seeks to recreate a feeling of calm, openness, and connection with the unknown.

Manifesto Cannibale, nuova produzione del CollettivO Ci­neticO guidato da Francesca Pennini, nasce da una rifles­sione sul mondo vegetale ed è una ricerca sul tempo, sul gioco, sull’insieme di codici e convenzioni che alimentano l’atto performativo. Manifesto Cannibale è uno strano organismo. È nato anziano. Si è reincarnato molte volte e in molti corpi. È mutato in altre forme. La sua creazione è stata abban­donata dall’autrice, Francesca Pennini, che si è tenuta in una condizione di cecità affidando la messa in scena a un sistema di comunicazione filtrato solo da indizi poetici. Eseguito dal vivo, il ciclo di Lieder Winterreise di Franz Schu­bert, orchestra il rito di trasformazione dei corpi: dormire e svegliarsi, prendere luce, farsi osservare e, forse, trovare nell’immobilità nuove forme di romanticismo.

Manifesto Cannibale is a strange organism. It was born old. It has been reincarnated many times and in many bodies. It is mutated into other forms. Its creation was abandoned by the author, Francesca Pennini, who kept herself in a condition of blindness entrusting the staging to a communication system filtered only by poetic clues. A ghost author who signs something she doesn't know and is not allowed to watch.

We prepare for the apocalypse in many ways. What is the right song for the end of humanity? How do the minutes before extinction sound like? What would you like to hear? You can offer the perfect music for your very own apocalypse of the species. This playlist will become the engine of the last scene. Yopu can direct the orchestra of bodies in a sound bacchanal outside of any algorithm, a collective disco-forest between lullabies and Armageddon, between requiems and rave parties.
